ABSTRACT
Rapid sequence intubation (SRI) is defined as the simultaneous administration of a sedative and neuromuscular blocking agent to facilitate endotracheal intubation and reduce possible complications. The SRI includes a series of steps called the 7P's, which will be emphasized from the pharmacological point of view in paralysis and induction. Some of the drugs to do this are neuromuscular blockers such as succinylcholine, atracurium, pancuronium, among others. While the sedatives are propofol, midazolam, etomidate and ketamine. The choice of these drugs must be individualized according to the hemodynamics and clinical condition of each particular patient
