ABSTRACT
Appendicular mucocele is defined as a cystic dilatation of the appendicular lumen whose etiology is obstructive and produces a retrograde accumulation of mucoid substance. It is an infrequent pathology, which is why it is an incidental finding in most cases. It can be divided into four histological subtypes, the most common is the mucinous cystadenoma. Pain in the right iliac fossa, nausea, vomiting, changes in intestinal habit and gastrointestinal bleeding are some of the symptoms that carriers of this pathology may present, however, the majority are asymptomatic. Imaging studies and clinical findings guide its diagnosis, and these tests are extremely important for the prevention of intraoperative complications, including peritoneal pseudomyxoma, and for the design of the surgical approach, which is the definitive treatment for this pathology.REFERENCES
