ABSTRACT
Introduction: Intestinal intussusception and gastrojejunal fistula are rare complications after bariatric surgery. This report describes a case where both entities were present, and comments are made about the diagnostic workup and therapeutic measures taken. Clinical case: Female patient with a history of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass who presents with chronic abdominal pain. Upper GI endoscopy shows bile reflux and CAT scan reports a "target sign" which suggests intussusception. Laparoscopy confirms the presence of a gastrojejunal fistula and jejunojeunal intussusception which are resolved by fistulectomy with primary gastric pouch closure and entero-enteropexy. Postoperative course was uneventful. Conclusion: Both intussusception and gastrojejunal fistula, although rare complications after gastric bypass, must be considered as possible diagnoses in chronic abdominal pain.REFERENCES
