ABSTRACT
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine which were the most common pathologies that were sent form the Emergency room to the Department of Otolaryngology for its treatment in the last 4 years from January 1996 to November 1999.
Findings: The most common findings were, the upper respiratory tract infection such as otitis and pharyngitis, followed by nasal fracture, facial trauma and epistaxis. Other common findings included infections of the deep spaces of the neck, was blocking the ear canal and foreign bodies.
Conclusion: This is the first study that present in Mexico the most common pathologies with severity and intensity that are refer from the Department of Medical Urgencies to the Division of Otolaryngology.
