ABSTRACT
Introduction: The pacemakers have proven useful in the treatment of bradycardia and cardiac block. The first registration of pacemakers in Cuba and the beginning of pacemaker implantation in our hospital motivates this research. Objective: To know the current situation of pacemakers implantation in our hospital, regarding clinical data, indication, type of implant, device and complications of the procedure. Methods: The registration’s data were obtained through the collection form, which was completed voluntarily by each patient during the implant. Results: The total number of implants was 47. The mean age was 69.8±18.9, with a predominance of men (65.5 %). The 65.9 % were primo-implantation, dual-chamber devices represented 53.1 %. In the total of patients predominated hypertension (78 %) and smoking (55 %). Complications were infrequent (6.38 %) and the hematoma predominated. Conclusions: Bicameral pacemakers were the most frecuent type of stimulation in our research. The implants of triple-chamber systems are still modest.REFERENCES
