ABSTRACT
Introduction: The National Center for Minimal Access Surgery has implemented the Quality Management System to contribute to the satisfaction of patients, families and other interested parties, which was integrated as of 2016 with the Hospital Accreditation Manual of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, to achieve continuous quality improvement. Objective: To show improvements of the Quality Management System at the National Center for Minimum Access Surgery as a result of the integration of the hospital accreditation models and the NC-ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Methods: A qualitative, non-experimental study was conducted. Empirical and theoretical processes were used, as well as the matrix of integration of the requirements of the NC-ISO 9001:2015 with the standards of hospital accreditation, identifying those aspects that required improvement actions.
Result: The application of the integration matrix of both evaluation schemes allowed the best organization of the processes' activities, updating and completing the documented information and avoiding duplication of documents.
Conclusions: The integration of the NC-ISO 9001:2015 requirements with the hospital accreditation standards is an important tool to guarantee the fulfillment of both quality models, in an effective and more efficient way, without duplicating documented information.
