ABSTRACT
Acute scrotum syndrome is a medical-surgical emergency. Acute scrotal pain represents a true diagnostic challenge. Testicular
torsion. It is a true urological emergency with bimodal presentation in relation to age: perinatal testicular torsion
that presents with a hard, sensitive or non-sensitive scrotal mass, usually with an underlying dark coloration of the skin
and the peripubertal testicular torsion with acute testicular pain severe. Ultrasound diagnosis. Up to 100% specificity and
sensitivity are reported in the diagnosis of testicular torsion. Differential diagnosis. It can be grouped into major signs and
minor signs. The major signs are closely related to the pathology proper to the testicle. Torsion of testicular appendices.
It is a common cause of acute scrotum in prepubertal children. The treatment for this condition is basically conservative.
Testicular trauma. What causes damage to the testicle is rare. Testicular hematoma. They can be intratesticular or
extratesticular. The treatment is conservative. Acute scrotum. Management of the acute scrotum in pediatric patients is
challenging. In case of not having the specialized human resources to establish an adequate diagnosis and treatment, the
patient should be referred to a medical attention center where immediate medical attention can be provided. The delay in
the diagnosis and treatment causes loss of the involved testicles.
