ABSTRACT
The pituitary macroadenoma is a benign tumor with a diameter greater than 10 mm that originates from the cells of the
adenohypophysis; the prolactinoma is the most frequent. A 16-year-old male adolescent who attended the consultation
due to decreased visual acuity of the left eye, confirmed by optometric study and the campimetry reported a bitemporal
heteronymous hemianopsia. The brain magnetic resonance revealed the presence of a pituitary macroadenoma. Although
pituitary adenomas are the tumors most frequently located in the pituitary fossa. In children they are not as frequent as in
the adult population that represent 10 to 15% of all intracranial tumors.
