ABSTRACT
This work is a report of a series of cases that aims to propose and review a protocol for the care of lung infections and injuries in the oral cavity in patients with COVID-19 admitted to the ICU of Hospital Santa Paula. In a review of the literature, the importance of oral health for these patients admitted to the ICU, especially SARS-CoV-2, is clear. For this, a care protocol was established, and the patients were evaluated daily. The data was entered into a data collection spreadsheet. The results showed that there was an improvement in the quality of oral hygiene, better hydration and, consequently, an improvement in the clinical evolution of oral lesions. We conclude that the role of a multidisciplinary team in the care of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 helps in their quality of life, speeds up recovery and prevents further complications.
