ABSTRACT
Objective:
to determine the clinical characteristics and associated neoplasms of patients with Jadassohn’s sebaceous nevus (JSN) attending at the Centro Dermatológico de Yucatán (CDY) from 2010 to 2020
Material and method:
in this retrospective study, the population were patients who attended the service of dermatology at the CDY from January 2010 to December 2020. Clinical records and histopathological reports of patients diagnosed with JSN were reviewed, obtaining the clinical, epidemiological characteristics and associated tumors.
Results:
We found 66 patients with histopathological confirmed diagnosis of JSN: 33 cases (50%) were women, and 33 cases (50%) men, with a ratio man:woman 1:1. Average age at diagnosis was 16 years old (range: four to 54 year-old). The most frequent localization was the scalp 47 cases (71.2%), followed by the face 15 cases (22.7%), lesions in both sites (face and scalp) two cases (3.03%) and one case on the ear (1.5%). Association of neoplasms was observed in three cases (4.54%), one of them developed five basal cell carcinomas.
Conclusions:
: JSN at the CDY is infrequent. Patients seek medical attention predominantly in the adolescence without sex predilection, the most common localization is the scalp and only in rare cases we found an association to a benign or malignant neoplasm.
