Frequency of medical comorbidities of patients admitted to the Dental Specialty Center from August 2018 to February 2020

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Feinstein defines comorbidity as "any clinical entity that has existed or that could occur during the clinical course of a patient who has an index disease". It also considers pregnancy, mental or behavioral disorders, or any other relevant change in the clinical profile. Objective: To determine the frequency of medical comorbidities of patients admitted to the Dental Specialties Center from August 2018 to February 2020. Material and methods: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional observational, included first time patients with medical comorbidities and pregnant women who were admitted to the Dental Specialties Center from August 2018 to February 2020. Results: 636 patients were obtained; the most frequently occurring comorbidities were: cleft lip and palate, central nervous system diseases and cardiovascular diseases. Conclusions: Patients with comorbidities require timely care to avoid complications, the pregnant patient requires specific dental care, knowing the comorbidities that frequently occur in children, it is recommended to carry out protocols for oral rehabilitation and stomatological prevention.REFERENCES
