ABSTRACT
The participation of doctor and Professor Eusebio Hernández Pérez in the Cuban liberating struggles, together with his brilliant performance as a scientist and pedagogue, established the inexcusable pretext to develop this research. The approach to his contributions in the scientific-research field is evident in the development of methods and techniques in the gynecological-obstetric service. His struggle in the political-social sphere, and political participation against the evils that afflicted neocolonial Cuba stood out. The bibliographic sources used were the result of a review of the historical literature of the time, as well as other investigations related to his life and work, archives on his scientific work and inquiries in historical institutions such as the former Royal Academy of Medical Sciences, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana, where Carlos J. Finlay History Museum of Sciences is held today. Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez is an enduring example and a paradigm for current and future generations. He knew how to combine his patriotic feelings with his proven professional expertise, his innovative scientific struggle, his pedagogical and research artifice, his civic behavior and his social conception of obstetrics, which has very deservedly made him as the Father of Cuban Obstetrics. Aiming to preserve the legacy of this historical Cuban personality, significant obstetrician and gynecologist, we decided to study his political and social work in the first five years of the 20th century, where his most relevant achievements and feats are revealed when investigating his life, his patriotic struggle and his scientific and investigative work.REFERENCES
