ABSTRACT
This is the story of a small health center in a particularly poor neighborhood of Mexico City. The health center, which was founded and sustained by the local people with the help of a Catholic priest and some donations, has survived and grown. Primarily devoted to outpatient care, the health center has since been converted into a charitable hospital with sixty-five beds, twelve cribs and two operating theaters. The group of founding philanthropists have extended their work to other cities. An example to follow.
