ABSTRACT
Scope: This protocol will be applied to obstetric patients (pregnant and postpartum) admitted in an intensive care unit with confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
Personnel to whom it is addressed: Intensive Medicine and Emergencies, Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist doctors and residents, and other specialists and professionals who provide medical care to obstetric patients admitted in an intensive care unit.
General target: To establish the processes and procedures required for the treatment of the coronavirus 2 COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) disease in obstetric patients (pregnant and postpartum) who require intensive care admission.
Validity: Until the next update. This protocol will be greatly improved when discussed among intensivists, obstetricians and specialists dedicated to the care of these patients. The experiences of other countries, regarding the evolution of the disease, the recommendations of international institutions and publications that are systematically reviewed on the subject, will serve to improve it. Hence, the successive versions will carry, in addition to the date of issue, the version in question. For this reason, this is the first version.
Limitations: No actions are contemplated in primary care or in those patients with a less serious condition without a criteria for admission in intensive care. On the other hand, this protocol is supported by international guides and publications, since there are not obstetric patients diagnosed with this condition in Cuba.
