ABSTRACT
The ganglion is a soft tissue lesion that can appear at any age, although it is more common in young people and in women. We present ultrasound images of an 88-year-old female diabetic patient who came to the consultation due to an increase in volume in her left shoulder with limitation of joint movements. She was diagnosed with an acromioclavicular ganglion by musculoskeletal ultrasound. The objective of the article is to determine the effectiveness of this diagnostic method. Musculoskeletal ultrasound of her shoulder joint was performed with Aloka alpha 10 equipment. A 7.5 Mhz linear transducer was used; a cystic image with posterior enhancement was visualized; it communicated with the acromioclavicular joint with no evidence of flow to color Doppler and signs of degenerative lesion of the supraspinatus tendon with signs of omarthrosis. It is concluded that musculoskeletal ultrasound is an effective diagnostic tool for diagnosing acromioclavicular ganglion.REFERENCES
