Gemella morbillorum community acquired pneumonia with favorable evolution

ABSTRACT
65-year-old male patient, resident of the Mexican southeast, he was attended for chronic cough and weight loss
in the last six months. It was established a diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia, later he developed
parapneumonic effusion with empyema.
Gemella morbillorum was the isolated microorganism, an infrequent
pathogen in our environment, few cases have been reported in the medical literature around the world. The comprehensive
approach of this patient resulted in his improvement and subsequent hospital discharge.
