ABSTRACT
Hyperlipidemia is the main cause for atherosclerosis being the latter the main reason for developing ischemic cardiopathy. Statins are the most prescribed drugs for reducing serum lipids, in particular low-density lipoproteins (LDL). Nowadays, an additional pharmacological resource has been introduced. Drugs such as ezetimibe, which preferently inhibits cholesterol absorption, into the gut, are being simultaneously administrated with statins for preventing ischemic cardiopathy.
