ABSTRACT
Knowledge of the contributions to spine surgery made over time provides us with the context of
understanding current surgical techniques and the success that this area has had over the years. In
this work the author carried out a search for the historical milestones that marked the course of spinal
surgery, which represented an arduous work by great figures of medicine, starting from Egyptian
mythology, passing through the Greek, Arabian, the Renaissance, until the Modern Age and the
development of minimally invasive surgery.
