ABSTRACT
The initial experience of the use of laparoscopic limphadenectomy in the handling of the patients with prostate cancer is presented at the “Hospital de Especialidades del Centro Médico Nacional, Siglo XXI, del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social”. Subjecting 11 patients, with diagnosis of adenocarcinoma of the prostate in whom they sought to settle down the real clinical stage of the illness by means of the exploration of the pelvic nodules with the laparoscopic technique, comparing them with a control group of same number of patients that were subjected to traditional limphadenectomy. It is observed that the results are similar, as for morbidity in both procedures. However, with a smaller hospital stay, as well as minimum nuisances derived from the procedure, and that it gives the same diagnostic accuracy.
