ABSTRACT
Introduction: eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a benign, rare malformation, characterized histopathologically by the proliferation of ecrine glands and blood vessels.Material and methods: a observational, cross-sectional, retrospective study was carried out to determine the epidemiological, clinical and histopathological characteristics of patients diagnosed with eccrine angiomatous hamartoma at the Dr. Manuel Gea González Hospital from 1997 to 2019. The cases selected were all histopathologically diagnosed, with complete clinical record.
Results: nine cases were collected, of which three were excluded without histopathological material. Six cases were analyzed, the sex ratio was 1:1; the age range was zero to 38 years old, with an average 25.5 years. The main symptom was pain and the most common location was lower extremities. The characteristic histopathological pattern was proliferation of eccrine glands with dilation of vessels.
Conclusions: eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare entity, six cases occurred in our hospital in 23 years, in both genders affecting young adults. The most common topography is in lower extremities and the histopathological pattern was dilated and proliferation of blood vessels and eccrine glands.
