ABSTRACT
Lupus is a B cell mediated autoimmune disorder. Like most of autoimmune diseases,
the development of lupus is believed to be induced by a combination of genetic,
hormonal and environmental factors. A link between Epstein-Barr virus and lupus has
been suggested through serologic, molecular and experimental studies. However, a
relationship between Epstein-Barr virus and lupus remains controversial.
