Behavior and spatial stratification of suicidal behavior. Granma province. Year 2017

ABSTRACT
Introduction: suicidal behavior is one of the problems faced by health professionals, since every year the number of deaths from this cause and those who try to consummate the act increase, as well as the consequences derived from it, from the psychological, sociological and care points of view for them, their relatives and the medical team that attends them.Objective: to characterize the behavior of suicidal behavior in the Granma province during the year 2017.
Methods: age groups, sex, municipality of residence were used as epidemiological variables, determining other indicators: trend, risk of illness by municipalities, and risk stratification.
Results: suicide shows growth compared to 2016 and a decrease in suicide attempts; the risk with respect to the previous year increases in 8 municipalities and in the age groups of 15 to 59 years and in suicide in 4 municipalities and in all age groups, except in the 10 to 14 years; Epidemiological stratification places 2 municipalities in the high-risk stratum (Media Luna and Niquero) in suicide attempts and in suicides (Jiguaní, Yara, Buey Arriba and Guisa).
Conclusions: the trend in the last 10 years is downward in Suicide and stable in Suicide attempts; suicide is more frequent in males and in suicide attempts it predominated in females.
