Síndrome inflamatorio multisistémico pediátrico

RESUMEN
El síndrome inflamatorio multisistémico pediátrico es un síndrome clínico descrito en los últimos meses en niños y adolescentes, asociado a una infección activa o reciente por SARS-CoV-2, el virus que causa COVID-19. Se caracteriza por fiebre persistente, valores elevados de marcadores de inflamación y disfunción de uno o múltiples órganos. Puede incluir características sugestivas del síndrome de Kawasaki o síndrome de shock tóxico. El diagnóstico se basa en factores clínicos, de laboratorio, ecocardiográficos y epidemiológicos. Los pacientes con enfermedad leve pueden tratarse de forma conservadora, mientras que los pacientes con una enfermedad más grave deben recibir inmunoglobulina intravenosa. La mayoría de los pacientes responden rápidamente al tratamiento.
