Síndrome hepatopulmonar

RESUMEN
Las manifestaciones pulmonares de la enfermedad hepática pueden incluir presencia de hipertensión pulmonar, daño pulmonar agudo, enfermedad obstructiva o restrictiva del pulmón, fibrosis intersticial, derrame pleural y otras causas de deterioro del intercambio gaseoso, entre ellos el síndrome hepatopulmonar. El síndrome hepatopulmonar es una entidad clínica observada en asociación con insuficiencia hepática con una incidencia reportada de 13 a 47%. Usando el modelo animal de Chang, Fallon y colaboradores, se ha abierto una nueva dimensión en el entendimiento del síndrome hepatopulmonar. Mientras seguimos en espera de hallazgos de biología molecular para comprender la fisiopatogenia del síndrome hepatopulmonar, el trasplante hepático ortotópico es la única terapia para esta entidad clínica.
