Efecto del clofibrato, asociado a fototerapia sobre la concentración de bilirrubina en niños recién nacidos

RESUMEN
Objetivo. Probar la efectividad del clofibrato para tratar neonatos con hiperbilirrubinemia indirecta no hemolítica.
Material y métodos. Se seleccionaron 30 recién nacidos dentro de la primera semana de vida extrauterina, que tenían hiperbilirrubinemia indirecta no hemolítica. Se formaron al azar tres grupos constituidos de la siguiente manera: grupo I (n = 9) al cual se le administró fenobarbital; grupo II (n = l2) con clofibrato; grupo III, (n = 9) que recibió placebo. Los grupos recibieron fototerapia. Se les midió la bilirrubina total y la indirecta al inicio del estudio y a las 24, 48 y 72 horas.
Resultados. El grupo con clofibrato y el que recibió fenobarbital mostraron una significancia estadística con una p ‹ 0.05 y p ‹ 0.01, respectivamente, a las 48 y 72 horas, con respecto al grupo que recibió el placebo. Los grupos I y II no mostraron diferencias significativas durante el tiempo que duró el estudio.
Conclusiones. El clofibrato mostró ser un inductor enzimático tan bueno como el fenobarbital, sin los efectos de tipo sedativo de este último medicamento. No se observaron efectos secundarios atribuibles a su empleo.
