Choque tóxico estreptocócico en una niña que fallece por trombo intracardiaco

RESUMEN
El Síndrome de choque tóxico estreptocócico (SCTE) es debido a exotoxinas pirogénicas del estreptococo del grupo A (EGA). Se asocia a infecciones de la piel, tejidos blandos, e inclusive puede presentarse posterior a infecciones de las vías aéreas superiores. Su cuadro clínico es inespecífico y rápidamente progresivo. Hay asociación de embolismo pulmonar séptico con la flebitis supurativa, presencia de hipotensión, inmovilidad, colocación de catéteres femorales, entre otras cosas. Sin embargo, en la literatura hay poca información en donde se asocie SCTE y trombosis intracardiaca. Presentamos el caso de una paciente preescolar de 5 años de edad con SCTE, la cual falleció por un trombo intracardiaco.
