Atrofia muscular espinal tipo I. Reporte de un caso atípico

RESUMEN
La atrofia muscular espinal tipo I es una enfermedad degenerativa de las neuronas motoras del asta anterior de la médula espinal, que se inicia en la vida fetal; afecta los músculos voluntarios, en forma proximal, sin afectar su sensibilidad. Se identifica por particularidades histopatológicas típicas y un cuadro clínico característico, pero no patognomónico; sin embargo 15% de los casos son atípicos. El diagnóstico se confirma por estudios de laboratorio y gabinete; no hay tratamiento efectivo y su pronóstico es malo. En este informe se presenta un caso clínico atípico.
