Melanoma de la mucosa nasal

RESUMEN

Antecedentes: El melanoma mucoso de cabeza y cuello es una enfermedad infrecuente, con alta tasa de mortalidad. La complejidad de las áreas anatómicas, el crecimiento silente y su alta capacidad de metástasis justifican un peor pronóstico. Asimismo, la falta de conocimiento, protocolos de tratamiento y series de casos clínicos hacen que el abordaje sea controvertido y sujeto a diversas decisiones terapéuticas, por lo que, a pesar de investigaciones realizadas previamente, no se ha logrado aumentar la supervivencia.
Caso clínico: Paciente masculino de 89 años con una tumoración nasal de un año de evolución que ocasionaba obstrucción nasal, rinorrea purulenta, hiposmia, epistaxis y epífora. El reporte histopatológico documentó un melanoma primario de la mucosa nasal. Debido a su estadificación y en conjunto con el departamento de radio-oncología y oncología médica se decidió realizar tratamiento quirúrgico.
Conclusiones: El melanoma mucoso nasal suele tener peor pronóstico que los que surgen de los sitios cutáneos y la mayoría de los pacientes desarrollan enfermedad recurrente y diseminada.
