Gasto de energía y pérdida de proteínas en niños quemados

RESUMEN
Se revisan reportes que hacen referencia al apoyo nutricio de niños con quemaduras, que ponen en peligro su vida. Se hace énfasis que aun en adultos hay pocos trabajos que hagan mención al gasto de energía y pérdida de proteínas en estos niños. Con los datos disponibles se han derivado ecuaciones que permiten estimar el gasto de energía y las proteínas que pierden. Se discuten los factores asociados a la pérdida extrarrenal de proteínas y al gasto energético, y se sugieren algunas fórmulas para calcular las necesidades nutricias en estos niños.
