Manifestaciones cardiológicas en pacientes con COVID-19

RESUMEN
En diciembre de 2019 se reportaron varios casos de neumonía, cuyo agente causal
sería denominado SARS-CoV-2 provocando la enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-
19). A pesar de que el cuadro sintomático principal es respiratorio, se han
reportado afectaciones en otros sistemas, el cardiovascular es uno de los principales.
Las afectaciones cardiovasculares, que son menos comunes y condicionadas por un
proceso fisiopatológico de inflamación sistémica, están representadas principalmente
por daño miocárdico agudo, seguido de arritmias, mismas que no son especificadas
por los autores. También se han descrito choque cardiogénico, insuficiencia cardiaca,
tromboembolismo venoso o sistémico y síndrome coronario agudo; todo esto en
poblaciones en las que predomina el sexo masculino, mayor edad y su asociación
con peor pronóstico. Es necesario comprender las manifestaciones cardiológicas por
medio de investigaciones que nos permitan conocer también su relación con otros
factores de riesgo y las repercusiones a mediano y largo plazo, con el fin de no solo
tener la sospecha clínica oportuna en estos pacientes, sino de ofrecer atención y
manejo apropiados e integrales.
