Introducción

La Organización Mundial de la Salud en el 2002 definió los Cuidados Paliativos (CP) como un ¨enfoque que mejora la calidad de vida de los pacientes y sus familias que enfrentan el problema asociado con enfermedades potencialmente mortales, a través de la prevención y alivio del sufrimiento mediante la identificación temprana y la evaluación y el tratamiento impecables del dolor y otros problemas físicos, psicosocial y espiritual
