Introducción
La inestabilidad posterior (IP) es una entidad poco diagnosticada de forma aislada y, hasta la fecha, continúa siendo un desafío para el ortopedista. Ésta fue descrita desde 1839 por Cooper y actualmente tiene una frecuencia en su presentación de 2 a 10%. Dicha condición es mucho menor que la de otras patologías que involucran la estabilidad del hombro, por lo que el conocimiento de la fisiopatología requiere una mayor acuciosidad en el análisis de la información de la historia de presentación del paciente, así como una adecuada y precisa revisión en la exploración física. El entendimiento de la anatomía y biomecánica glenohumeral juegan un papel primordial para detectar las estructuras dinámicas o estáticas que se encuentren afectadas, para que, de esta manera, se pueda conseguir un adecuado tratamiento.
