Correlación entre la presión del globo de la cánula traqueal medida por el método electrónico y la medida por el esfigmomanómetro de mercurio

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Demostrar que el esfigmomanómetro de mercurio es un instrumento útil para el monitoreo de la presión del globo de la cánula endotraqueal.
Diseño: Estudio multicéntrico, prospectivo.
Lugar: UCIs de tres hospitales de la ciudad de Mérida, Yucatán; México.
Pacientes: Ciento dos pacientes (61 hombres, 41 mujeres, edad media 57.7 ± 21.1 años) con insuficiencia respiratoria aguda a los que se les efectuó intubación endotraqueal y se les asistió con ventilación mecánica.
Mediciones y resultados: Se midió la presión del globo de la cánula endotraqueal por el método electrónico y simultáneamente con un esfigmomanómetro de mercurio. La diferencia presión entre ambos procedimientos no fue superior a 1.36 mmHg (r = 0.99).
Conclusión: El esfigmomanómetro de mercurio es un instrumento útil para el monitoreo de la presión del globo de la cánula endotraqueal en pacientes con insuficiencia respiratoria aguda.
