Efecto del reemplazo hormonal transdérmico en la postmenopausia sobre el índice de masa corporal y la concentración de leptina

RESUMEN
Objetivo: Estudiar el efecto del reemplazo hormonal con estrógenos por vía transdérmica (RHT)
en menopáusicas sobre la concentración de leptina y el índice de masa corporal (IMC).
Pacientes
y métodos: Veintisiete mujeres postmenopáusicas con histerectomía recibieron reemplazo hormonal
mediante parches conteniendo 17
Β estradiol (50 μg/día) durante tres meses para medir en
condiciones
basales y postratamiento los niveles de leptina y el IMC.
Resultados: La concentración de
leptina y
el IMC no se modificaron significativamente con RHT, pero colateralmente se encontró una correlación
positiva (r
s =
0.605,
p ‹ 0.001) entre leptina e IMC en todas las participantes.
Conclusión: La vía
transdérmica para RHT no modifica el IMC ni las concentraciones de leptina lo cual puede considerarse
como una ventaja de esta ruta de administración.
