Empleo de antibióticos en el postoperatorio de apendicitis aguda: revisión de la literatura

RESUMEN
El uso de antibióticos en los pacientes operados por apendicitis aguda tiene como fin prevenir las complicaciones sépticas de la apendicitis y dentro de éstas, la infección de sitio quirúrgico es la más común, por esta razón, los antibióticos son una medida prioritaria en el postoperatorio de estos pacientes. A pesar de lo anteriormente descrito el uso de antibióticos en los pacientes apendicectomizados ha cambiado desde su introducción, por lo que actualmente existen distintos estudios que evalúan su utilidad y asociación con infecciones de vías urinarias, neumonía, etc., que incrementan la morbilidad del paciente y por tanto, su estancia hospitalaria. El propósito de la siguiente revisión es exponer los distintos resultados de los estudios revisados.
