Síndrome de vómito cíclico en adultos

RESUMEN
El síndrome de vómito cíclico mencionado por Heberden en 1806, y descrito en Francia por Lombard en 1861, ha sido catalogado por los criterios de Roma IV como un trastorno funcional de tipo gastroduodenal, en el que existe interacción con el sistema nervioso central. Se caracteriza por hiperémesis de presentación paroxística, recurrente de manera cíclica, alternando con periodos de ausencia de sintomatología, con moderada predilección por el género femenino y de predominio en la infancia con incremento de los reportes en adultos, acompañado de dolor abdominal, es desencadenado por el estrés, infecciones, menstruación, y algunos alimentos. Los estudios indican que existe relación directa con migraña. Es un reto diagnóstico, requiriendo hospitalizaciones frecuentes, y no es rara la cirugía exploratoria de abdomen ante duda diagnóstica. Al presentarse tres diferentes casos en la institución, realizamos la revisión del tema, motivo de esta comunicación.
