RESUMEN
Los partos prematuros representan una de las mayores complicaciones obstétricas en el mundo. Las mujeres embarazadas que presentan
enfermedad periodontal han sido asociadas con partos prematuros. El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica fue ofrecer una visión general
de publicaciones actualizadas de la relación entre la enfermedad periodontal y el parto prematuro. Además alertar al odontólogo de su importancia
en conocimiento y capacitación, mejorando su práctica profesional de manera integral, destacando que la mujer embarazada debe
ser educada y tratada durante el embarazo, tanto en sus periodos iniciales como finales.
