Las hemoglobinas de las bacterias

RESUMEN
Durante los últimos años se han identificado genes de hemoglobina (
hb) en
organismos que pertenecen a los tres dominios de la vida. Estos genes se clasifican
en las familias M, S y T. La familia M incluye a las flavohemoglobinas (fHbs) y a
las Hbs de un solo dominio (SDgbs), la familia S incluye a los sensores acoplados
a globinas (GCSs), a las protoglobinas (Pgbs) y a las globinas sensoras de un solo
dominio (SSDgbs), y la familia T incluye a las Hbs truncadas (Hbts). En el dominio
Eubacteria se han detectado todos los tipos de Hbs que se conocen (fHbs, SDgbs,
GCSs, SSDgbs, Pgbs y Hbts), sin embargo, en el dominio Archaea solamente se
han detectado GCSs, Pgbs, SSDgbs y Hbts. En esta revisión se describen aspectos
generales sobre los avances recientes en el estudio de las Hbs bacterianas desde
una perspectiva evolutiva, estructural y funcional.
