FRAGMENTO

Con estas páginas se abre el volumen 27 de la RCAN Revista Cubana de Alimentación y Nutrición. Es entonces más que propicia la presentación al lector de los contenidos incluidos en el número de apertura de este volumen.
Varios temas dominan este número, por lo que no pudiera hablarse de un núcleo argumental en sí mismo, lo que en definitiva reafirma la extraordinaria pluralidad de interpretaciones e intereses de las ciencias de la Alimentación y la Nutrición. Pero si se me compulsa a destacar un tópico sobre los otros cubiertos, señalaría la salud materno-infantil. De hecho, la sección “Reporte especial” de este número contiene un enjundioso informe sobre la situación de la salud y la nutrición de niños, madres y familias de las comunidades campesinas y originarias del centro de la República del Ecuador. Este informe se extiende para documentar las prácticas alimentarias que se conducen en los niños con edades menores de 3 años en 45 comunidades de las provincias ecuatorianas de Chimborazo, Cotopaxi y Tungurahua. En forma paralela, y a modo de contrapunteo del informe ecuatoriano, se muestran las prácticas alimentarias seguidas en los niños menores de 2 años de edad en la comunidad de San Cristóbal, la segunda en importancia (después de la cabecera provincial) de Artemisa: una de las provincias más jóvenes de Cuba.
