Diagnóstico y tratamiento de infecciones causadas por Helicobacter pylori

RESUMEN
La infección por
Helicobacter pylori (
H. pylori) se adquiere durante la infancia, desarrollando una respuesta inflamatoria y erosión de la mucosa gástrica en más de 50% de la población mundial. Se ha reconocido como agente etiológico en el desarrollo de úlcera, gastritis crónica, cáncer gástrico y linfoma del tejido linfoide asociado a la mucosa gástrica (MALT). Durante la infección se pueden presentar signos y síntomas como dolor, náuseas, dispepsia, pérdida de peso. Debido al potencial patogénico que se ha detectado en esta bacteria, es necesario contar con métodos eficaces de diagnóstico para su detección y llevar a cabo un tratamiento eficaz. Las técnicas empleadas para el diagnóstico de la infección por
H. pylori se pueden dividir en métodos invasivos como la endoscopia gástrica para la obtención de biopsias, cultivo, PCR, y técnicas no invasivas, que son menos agresivas para el paciente. Esta revisión constituye una actualización de las principales técnicas utilizadas para el diagnóstico de
H. pylori y los tratamientos que existen hasta este momento.
