Dexametasona en la profilaxis de náuseas y vómitos posoperatorios

RESUMEN
Introducción: las náuseas y vómitos son síntomas frecuentes en el posoperatorio de cualquier intervención y pueden provocar diferentes complicaciones de menor o mayor envergadura. De ahí la importancia de la prevención.Objetivo: ofrecer una revisión bibliográfica actualizada acerca del tema y facilitar la actuación del anestesiólogo ante un evento reiterado en los pacientes quirúrgicos.
Conclusiones: la dexametasona, constituye la mejor opción para la profilaxis farmacológica de las náuseas y vómitos posoperatorios. Recomendándose su uso antes del inicio de la anestesia y del procedimiento quirúrgico, como único fármaco o en combinación con otros.
