Lengua negra pilosa

RESUMEN

La lengua negra pilosa es una entidad frecuente y benigna, secundaria a la descamación alterada de las papilas filiformes. Estas papilas, que pueden ser más grandes de lo normal, pueden atrapar fácilmente diferentes alimentos, residuos de tabaco, bacterias y hongos y teñirse de colores. En casos graves, la longitud de las papilas es tal, que dan la apariencia de estructuras semejantes al pelo. Aunque puede ser alarmante por su apariencia, es una entidad benigna y habitualmente no es dolorosa. El objetivo de este artículo es comunicar un caso de lengua negra pilosa y revisar los conceptos actuales relacionados con esta interesante entidad clínica.
