Abordaje de la hipoglicemia en pacientes no diabéticos en edad pediátrica: revisión sistemática

RESUMEN
La presencia de concentraciones
séricas de glucosa por debajo de
40 mg/dl en un recién nacido y por
debajo de 45 mg/dl en un adulto,
es considerada hipoglicemia. Esta
puede tener diferentes causas,
desde un ayuno prolongado,
enfermedad endocrina,
metabólica, intoxicaciones,
medicamentos, tumores, etc. La
hipoglicemia, es una emergencia
médica, que puede llevar a
síntomas neurológicos severos,
daños irreversibles y hasta la
muerte. El realizar un diagnóstico
diferencial, un abordaje y
tratamiento oportuno son claves
para el manejo de un paciente con
hipoglicemia.
