Fracturas por estrés en el atleta: epidemiología y manejo

RESUMEN
El manejo de las fracturas por estrés es un tema polémico en la actualidad. Se debe siempre contemplar la causa y los factores que acompañan a las mismas, entre los cuales se incluyen la vascularidad ósea, el tipo de entrenamiento y el equipamiento que el paciente usa al momento de desempeñar sus actividades físicas; asimismo, es importante considerar el estado metabólico y hormonal del individuo. La personalidad de la fractura determinará si es de alto o bajo riesgo, lo cual nos guiará para la adecuada elección terapéutica en cada caso.
