Claves para el manejo de la vía aérea en la embarazada

RESUMEN
El manejo de la vía aérea en la paciente embarazada sigue siendo un reto para el anestesiólogo, en especial aquéllas con preeclampsia y obesidad. Aunque la regla de oro para su manejo sigue siendo la intubación endotraqueal, cuando existen dificultades, la prioridad debe ser la oxigenación/ventilación de la madre. Considerar el uso precoz de dispositivos supraglóticos y videolaringoscopios es de gran ayuda. El algoritmo en el manejo de la vía aérea y la conducta obstétrica dependerá del bienestar feto/materno. En la actualidad, la valoración de la vía aérea durante el trabajo de parto o previo a una cesárea y el equipamiento adecuado con dispositivos para el manejo avanzado de la vía aérea unido al entrenamiento permanente del personal son la clave para el éxito y la disminución de las complicaciones.
