Proloterapia: agentes proliferativos en el manejo del dolor crónico de origen musculoesquelético

RESUMEN
El dolor crónico de origen musculoesquelético, es motivo de consulta de alta frecuencia en la práctica del fisiatra. La proloterapia es una herramienta médica basada en la inyección de diversos agentes proliferativos, que tiene el potencial de aumentar el arsenal terapéutico con el que contamos para el manejo del dolor crónico de origen musculoesquelético. Presentamos una revisión sobre la historia, mecanismos de acción y aplicaciones clínicas, así como la experiencia de nuestro servicio con el uso de esta terapéutica.
