Estado actual de la cirugía toracoscópica

RESUMEN

La cirugía torácica videoasistida (VATS) no ha sido la excepción en la revolución tecnológica en la cual nos encontramos inmersos hoy en día. La miniaturización, las computadoras, los chips, la fibra óptica, todo ha contribuido al desarrollo de adelantos quirúrgicos tan impresionantes como la laparoscopia, la cirugía endovascular, la toracoscopia e incluso el diseño de instrumentos robóticos capaces de responder a una orden verbal, al toque de sensores, guantes o bastones interconectados a complejas computadoras, en las que bien puede ajustarse la sensibilidad y la amplitud de movimientos robóticos a distancia, pudiendo desarrollar nudos intracorpóreos con suturas sumamente delgadas, más aún introducirse dentro de los vasos o del propio corazón para efectuar reparaciones endovasculares. El objetivo de esta revisión es poder hacer una semblanza de lo que hasta ahora se ha logrado en el mundo de la cirugía torácica videoasistida y alentar a un desarrollo sostenido en el futuro venidero.
