Evaluación ecográfica de la glándula salival: Utilidad y diagnóstico en el síndrome de Sjögren

RESUMEN
El síndrome de Sjögren es una enfermedad autoinmune sistémica que se caracteriza por la destrucción de glándulas lacrimales y salivales, generando síntomas como xeroftalmia, xerostomía, xerodermia y manifestaciones extraglandulares graves, que marcan el pronóstico de la enfermedad. La ultrasonografía podría ser una herramienta útil para complementar el diagnóstico, detectar el síndrome en estados iniciales de la enfermedad, así como para seguimiento de los pacientes con diagnóstico establecido, incluyendo la valoración de la actividad inflamatoria mediante el estudio del Power Doppler, siendo el ultrasonido una técnica no invasiva, rápida y de bajo costo, que aún requiere estandarización y validación.
