Trastornos de la respiración asociados al sueño durante el embarazo

RESUMEN
Introducción: los trastornos de la respiración asociados al sueño, dentro de los cuales se destaca la apnea del sueño, se caracterizan por somnolencia diurna excesiva y trastornos cardiorrespiratorios y cognitivos, secundarios a episodios repetidos de obstrucción de la vía aérea superior. La padecen con significativa
frecuencia las mujeres embarazadas.
Objetivo: analizar a través de las evidencias encontradas en la literatura la
repercusión de los TRAS en la morbilidad materno y perinatal.
Métodos: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica actualizada acerca de los métodos
para el diagnóstico, etiopatogenia, complicaciones obstétricas asociadas a los TRAS,
así como algunas conductas recomendadas.
Conclusiones: se evidencia la asociación entre los TRAS y el incremento del riesgo
materno y perinatal; dirigir la atención hacia las pacientes que la padecen tiene
beneficios potenciales en la detección de las complicaciones asociadas y permite
adoptar una conducta oportuna y eficaz durante el seguimiento prenatal.
