Staphylococcus aureus asociado a la comunidad (CA-MRSA)

RESUMEN
La rápida diseminación de las infecciones por
Staphylococcus aureus meticilina resistente adquirido en la comunidad (CA-MRSA) surgió en las décadas pasadas. Se presenta en gente joven en ausencia de factores de riesgo y sin haber asistido a algún centro de salud o haber sido hospitalizado. Las tasas de prevalencia reportadas de los CA-MRSA varían ampliamente en los estudios realizados debido a las diferentes definiciones empleadas y diversos establecimientos de los CA-MRSA en donde éstos se han realizado. La mayoría de las infecciones causadas por los CA-MRSA son en piel y tejidos blandos, pudiendo conducir, dependiendo de la severidad de las mismas, a la muerte del paciente. Asimismo, tales infecciones se han asociado a cepas de estafilococos que comparten el cassette cromosomal estafilocócico mec (
SCCmec) tipo IV y a los genes que codifican la leucocidina Panton Valentine (PVL). Actualmente, la emergencia de los MRSA prevalece en la comunidad como un problema de salud pública grave. Por lo que se necesitan tanto programas de vigilancia y diagnóstico como un manejo especial para las infecciones confirmadas por MRSA.
